We are a full service mediation provider. We conduct top calibre face to face , on-line (ODR), and telephone mediation throughout the UK. We offer civil, business-maintenance, and work-place mediations. As taught in most common law jurisdictions, mediation is based on the classic ‘PIN’ model, in which the mediator draws the parties from their Positions and focuses them on their Interests and Needs. Although there is more than one way to do this, most mediators use a three stage process: (i) explore the issues through informal conversation; (ii) direct and promote the exchange of information between the parties; and (iii) help the parties formulate a final, self directed resolution. For a more detailed discussion of what to expect from a mediation, please give us a call!
We accept referrals at any stage. Business-maintenance and Work-place mediations can occur at any step in the life of a conflict, but I’d recommend getting help early. As a general rule, a legal case becomes, ‘ripe’ for mediation when most of the preliminary preparation has been completed but before the more significant costs have been incurred. Those representing clients in mediation should be familiar with all aspects of the case and be able to sit down and discuss their client’s case with the other sides and the mediator.
You say you are a national service, yet you’re based in Newcastle upon Tyne. How much extra does it cost us to host a mediation in London for example?
We want your business, and so we don’t charge you anything for travel or accommodation within the United Kingdom.
Other than venue fees (if any) and overruns, there are no extra fees on top of the original quote.
I’m a Solicitor or Barrister and I’m considering referring cases to mediation. Do you have any advice?
Give it a try. There are plenty of options for you to acquaint yourself with ADR. For instance The Neutral Corner is able to offer a mock mediation held at your offices free of charge. This allows fee earners a chance to observe the mediation process in general and our particular service.
Further, there are a number of courses available to barristers and solicitors which teach ‘Mediation Advocacy’. There are also a number of texts, including the seminal book, ‘Advising and Representing Clients at Mediation,’ available to aid practitioners as they shift into the world of advocacy at mediation.
Hiring us is simple and fast. Mediations can be scheduled in less than 24 hours should both parties be in agreement.
The easiest way to initiate the process is to e-mail an enquiry form or simply to give us a call.
The other party has suggested we use you as a mediator. Should my client be worried that you were suggested by the other side?
The fact of the matter is that the mediator can’t force anyone to do anything. Because we operate under strict confidentially rules, the other sides cannot know what is being said in your private sessions without your client’s explicit consent. If the other side already trusts and respects the mediator, they will be more comfortable with the process and more likely to assist the process in moving forward. Neutrality of the mediator is of paramount importance and something you can always depend on with The Neutral Corner.
We are offer lecture events and seminars to businesses in Europe. We are not however a mediation training provider. Please e-mail us for more details.
